The Story of My Art by Bill Shalinsky

Bill at work

It was 1994, retirement had come, what to do?
Lots of walking, but I needed something else too.
And with reduced vision, I can’t do everything,
Maybe learn a musical instrument or even sing?

Aha!! Lessons in art might be fun,
I hadn’t painted since 1941.
I found a good teacher, who encouraged my style,
And gave me confidence all the while.

“There are fewer rules than you think,” she said,
This helped greatly to reduce my fear and dread.
A “Neo-Primitive” is what she calls me,
I don’t know what it means, but I like what I see.

So, I paint away on whatever comes to mind,
Bright and funny is painting of my kind.
Back to the big black pig studio?
