So if you're plunked flat on your butt drawing these guys, they get curious. Guess most people look down from above, with a camera.

Imagine the compound, a flat stone terrace littered with straw and what-not. Four tortoises, two guides, infinite tourists and one lumpy artist. Sketchbook in one hand, reaching behind me into my backpack for the disposable cardboard camera... Grabbed one shot then went back to drawing. Photo by the dextrous Linda Carson.
