Folding the origami compass rosedesigned & diagrammed by Linda Carson (but surely not unique)
Is this where you wanted to be?
Origami beginners: don't panic. This design uses only simple folds to create a "relief sculpture" that resembles a compass rose (the fancy-pants which-way-is-north motif on antique maps). Origami veterans: my friend Paul points out that this design is a variation on the bird base. If you sometimes have trouble getting a bird base really crisp, you could build this pattern then turn it over and collapse it into the bird base. Because you crease only one layer of paper at a time, your folds will be more accurate. |
