Pisces Is A Water Sign

by Linda Carson

"I knew right away
you didn't live here any more
I'm holding your home
not your self
and now I'm washing it
because they told me
cleanliness is next to
something

rinsing away
everything that used to be you
the taste of you
the smell
and all your sins
especially your sins
thinking God likes you better

wet
clean and anonymous"

Pisces Is A Water Sign is a one-act for a close-knit, waterproof ensemble cast... and a moat.

Pisces Is A Water Sign features poetic language and highly-charged eroticism. Water is the element that joins us. Water is the gulf that divides us. This is a play about longing. This is a play about wetness.

Pisces was workshopped at Wilfrid Laurier University under the long-suffering technical direction of Adam Qualter, who hardly even flinched when I told him about the moat. Stand-alone pieces of this play have been performed in Hawaii and Chicago. It seems to travel well in bits.

Of course, Linda Carson holds the copyright on this script and she'd be forced to take bold action if you used it without permission or claimed it as your own. Contact me if you want to perform this or any of my plays. It's easy. Just email to lccarson@bigblackpig.com.
