  Hardbound SKETCHBOOK (at least 8 ½” X 5 ½”) Okay, if you're feeling daunted by this, settle for a flip-the-page, wire-bound, softcover sketchbook the first time. Hard covers stand up to the abuse better, but the important thing is to get a sketchbook.
PAPER (should be roughly 18” X 24”)
 newsprint or other cheap-and-easy paper for most classes at least 25 sheets
 white drawing paperat least 25 sheets, any sort*
 grey, beige or mid-toned paperat least 2 sheets, any sort*
